Angela Rowlands is a Lecturer in Communication Skills and Academic Support based at the Robin Brook Center. Angela is a qualified nurse with over 20 years of clinical experience. Her clinical background was in Cardiology where she was particularly interested in supporting patients’ and their families psychologically post heart attack. Angela is a qualified teacher and for many years combined her clinical work with education in the roles of Practice Educator for Cardiology and as Senior Lecturer at Thames Valley University where she set up and ran the Coronary Care Nursing and Counselling courses. Angela also worked freelance as a healthcare teacher and Consultant where she taught a number of courses nationwide to medical staff from a variety of backgrounds. Angela became Head of Education for a private firm of Health Coaches in 2009 where she developed her interest in communication skills which led to her role at Queen Mary University. Her main interests are helping students to meet the patient’s agenda whilst communicating with them in practice, supporting students who need extra help academically and working with students is practice to improve their communication skills.
