Professor Mike Roberts is Dean for Students at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry and Consultant Respiratory Physician at Whipps Cross University Hospital. He graduated from Liverpool Medical School and his first post in London was as an SHO at Barts in 1982.
Since then he trained at the Royal Brompton, Charing Cross, UCH, St Vincent's Sydney and the London Chest Hospital. He became Clinical Tutor then Director of Medical Education at Whipps and completed an MA in medical education before being appointed as the founding Director of the North East Thames Foundation School in 2005. He moved from this post in 2008 to take on the role of Dean in the Medical School. His education research interests lie in the field of transition from undergraduate to postgraduate medicine and medical professionalism.
As a clinician he is an Associate Director of the Royal College of Physicians Clinical Effectiveness unit and has led the UK National COPD audit programme since 2001 and the European programme since 2009.
